- LESSONS TO BE LEARNED FROM THE SHUNAMMITE WOMAN
- (13-05-2007)
The Shunammite woman was rich but she was a giver. She invited Elisha to eat at her place as he was passing by. She even asked her husband that they build for him a room. When Elisha saw that that she had blessed them a lot, he also wanted to bless her. The only thing she lacked was a child.
Lessons
- If the Lord has blessed you, you should also bless others. He has blessed you to be a blessing. (Genesis 12:2)
- A person may be rich, but there are things that money cannot buy. This woman was rich, but she had no child.
2Kings 4:16-17
She blessed a prophet, and the prophet blessed her with something that her money could not buy – a son.
Lesson
- If you receive a prophet because he is a prophet, you will receive a prophet's reward. Matthew 10:41
2Kings 4:18-37
As the son of the Shunammite was growing, one day he became sick when he was with the father. The father told his servant to take him to his mother. Later that day the boy died. The Shunammite woman went to get the man of God. She knew that all would be well.
Lessons
- The mother is always there for her child. The mother will do everything for the child
- The Shunammite woman knew where to run to when all seems hopeless – run to God and the man of God
- No negative language. "All is well". "Everything will be all right"
