(Baptism service – Beacon of Hope – 14-11-2010) Romans 6:1-12 In baptism you die with Jesus and rise up with him. You get into the water an old person, but you rise up a new person. Baptism is a symbol. It is a demonstration of what took place in your heart. With my old man, I served sin. I died, and now I have risen a new man in Christ. Now I serve Christ.
Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who lives, but Christ lives in me.
I cannot claim that "you don't know me, I will show you who I am". Instead I should say "I will show you who Jesus is".
1Peter 3:8-21 We have a new way of life in Christ. We do things differently. We do not pay revenge. We do good even to those who are bad to us. We control our tongues – not speak lies, curses or gossip. Baptism is a symbol of salvation. It is an answer of a good conscience toward God.
Acts 8:36-38 Believing in Jesus is a pre-requisite for baptism. Believe first, then you can be baptised.
2Corinthians 5:14-21 Jesus died for us. We died with him. We no longer live for ourselves but for him who died for us. If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. Old things are passed away and all things have become new. God has reconciled us to himself through Jesus (We are not longer at log-ahead with God). We are ambassadors for Christ. We represent the kingdom of God on the earth. This dying world should have hope by looking at the ambassadors. We are God's co-workers. We work for God's company.
