THE POWER OF PRAISE

(16-11-2008)

How often do you praise? Those who do not know how to praise, do you know how to grumble? I consider praise to be the inverse of grumbling/murmuring.
Psalms 8:1-3 ; 9:1-3 Praise God for what he keeps on doing. Talk about his works. He has done great things.
Psalms 103:1-3 Bless the Lord oh My soul and forget not all his benefits. You have many things you can thank the Lord for. He has saved you. He keeps you in good health. He delivered you from trouble. You have food to eat. You can walk on your two feet. And many more blessings.
Psalms 150:1-6 We praise the Lord for what He has done. You can praise the Lord with musical instruments, with loud voice and with dance. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Are you still alive? Praise the Lord.

2Chronicles 20:3-25 When Jehoshaphat was faced with the enemies he sought the face of the Lord. He started confessing the great works of the Lord. When you praise the Lord, your enemy will be defeated.
Acts 16:25 Start singing praises even when things are still difficult. God will manifest Himself and deliver you as you praise Him. Even the walls of Jericho fell while the children of Israel were shouting victory.
Hebrews 13:15 Continual praise
Psalms 63:1-8 Thirsty soul (Have thirst of praising the Lord and declaring his works at all times.)
Hebrew words for praise

  1. Shabach – To shout loudly, to command (Psalms 35:27; 47:1)
  2. Zamar – To touch strings, mostly rejoicing. Instrumental praise (Psalms 57:8; 150)
  3. Tehillah – To sing praises (2Chronicles 20:22)
