THERE'S GOT TO BE MORE
(27-12-2009, 10-01-2010, 17-01-2010, 25-07-2010) The church of Jesus has to be a place full of the Lord's presence. Despite the fact that some of us are born again and filled with the Holy Spirit, there are times when we feel dry. Sometimes going to church becomes routine. People of the world are hungry for the spiritual. When they can't see God in the church, they turn to cults.
God wants to manifest his glory. He wants to fill us. But we have to be hungry for Him.
Matthew 5:2,6 Blessed are those who know that they are spiritually in need; for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Those who hunger and thirst for righteousness will be filled.
Psalms 63:1-8 Earnestly I seek you. My soul thirsts for you. I stay close to the Lord. Let's seek him and not just his blessings.
2Chronicle 7:14 If my people..., seek my face... Hebrews 11:6 God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. WE NEED HIS MANIFESTED PRESENCE, NOT JUST FORMULAE AND STEPS.
Jeremiah 29:13 If we seek him with all our hearts, we will find him.
Genesis 5:22,24 Enoch walked with God Philippians 3:10 All I want is to know Christ and the power that raised him from the dead. Part 2 Philippians 3:8-21 I want to know Christ. I consider all things as nothing in comparison to knowing Christ. I can forfeit pleasures and anything else in order to gain Christ. Even though I am your pastor and teacher, I do not count myself to have arrived, I keep on pressing on toward the goal. Brothers and sisters, follow my example. I am hungry for more. Ezekiel 47:1-5 I am not satisfied with the water at ankle height. I want to flow in the deep waters of the Holy Spirit. It is not just tongues and dances, there has got to be more. Exodus 33:7-18 When you come to the tent of meeting, you need to experience God. If you inquire, the Lord will reveal to you. In addition, your leader is with you in the tent. When the presence of the Lord fill the church, we have to keep on worshipping him.
Moses wanted to know God. He wanted to know God's ways.
If the Lord is not in our midst, what will differentiate us from the people of this world? (Exodus 33:16)
The church without the presence of the Lord is not different from a social club (society).
Part 3
Zechariah 4:1-14 If you depend on the anointing of the Holy Ghost, you won't need to struggle to get the things done. Even tasks that look impossible will be possible
Luke 4:18 It is the anointing that makes the difference. There are things that I excel on (like teaching the Word) because of the anointing. Let's all minister in the anointing.
Romans 12:4-8 We have different ministries in Christ but we are one body. There are things that I do which you cannot do. Some of you struggle alone without tapping into the anointing that is upon your pastor. I am called as a gift to serve you. Some of you are deceived – you feel that you don't want to bother the pastor. There are some things that you can only get when you go to the man of God. (Old testament examples – the Shunemite woman, the widow woman whose sons were to be taken captive; New Testament – people had to go to Jesus and the disciples)
John 15:1-8 Branches that remain on the vine do not struggle to bear fruit. Some Christians do not have time to go to church, no time to fellowship with God in prayer and studying the Word – such will have difficulty to bear fruit. Branches that do not bear fruit he cuts off. There are others who come to church and do God's things as a routine and do not bear the fruit of the Spirit – these are cut off.

BLESSINGS OF GOD ARE CONDITIONAL
(09-05-2010) One would have wished that God's blessings are unconditional. We know that His love is unconditional, but His blessings are conditional.
Isaiah 1:19
Psalms 1:1-3
Deuteronomy 28:1-2
Psalms 112:1
I am blessed. I am empowered to prosper. I am delighted at the Lord's command. I am obedient to his word. Blessing is not limited to riches even though it includes riches.
My children shall be mighty upon the earth
Wealth and riches shall be in my house
There is always light in my path even when darkness comes.
I am not afraid of evil tidings
Our God is The All Sufficient One. He is a God who is more than enough.
Even when He blesses He does it exceedingly.
2Corinthians 9:6-11 Your sowing will determine your harvest. God makes all grace come to us in abundance, so that we may always under all circumstances and whatever the need be self sufficient. We are enriched in every way so that we can be generous on every occasion. NIV "God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all you need, you will abound in every good work." "You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion…"
Proverbs 11:24-25 There are those who give and yet get more richer, but there are also those who withhold but it leads them to poverty.
Deuteronomy 8:9-18 The Lord is bringing you into a land where you will have no shortage. When you have eaten and are full beware that you do not forget the Lord your God. When you have built good houses and dwell in them, do not forget the Lord your God.
Deuteronomy 8:18 God gives you power to get wealth. Notice that this verse does not say that God gives you wealth. You have the power to get wealth.
Isaiah 48:17 God teaches you to profit. He guides you in business ideas. If you are employed your salary is just a seed to get you where you should be.
Philippians 4:10-19 (Ampl.) (12-13, 18-19) I know how to live in abundance (do not forget the Lord who gives me power to get wealth). I know how to suffer need (because I know how to trust the Lord to meet my need). I have all and abound: I am full
If you are involved in giving, my God shall liberally supply (fill to the full) your every need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (Not according to your work or your family background)

YOUR ROLE IN THE LOCAL CHURCH
(24-01-2010)
Romans 12:4-8 We have different ministries in Christ but we are one body. There are things that I do which you cannot do. Some of you struggle alone without tapping into the anointing that is upon your pastor. I am called as a gift to serve you. Some of you are deceived – you feel that you don't want to bother the pastor. There are some things that you can only get when you go to the man of God. (Old testament examples – the Shunemite woman,
2 Kings 4:8-17, 22- The Shunammite woman blessed the man of God, and she received the blessing from God. She was rich but her money could not buy a child. But the man of God could proclaim and declare that she would have a son. She got a son as the man of God had said. When the son died, she did not call the funeral undertakers, but she called the man of God. "All is well."
We should work in harmony and support each other because we are a family. What role are you playing in your local church.
The community talks about "that church", the crowd talks about this church, but the congregation talks about our church. Members have the sense of ownership. They are role players.
Nehemiah 4:6 People were committed to work because they had a mind to work. People with a mind to work do not wait to be pushed, they do not grumble, but they serve with willing hearts because they do it for the Lord.
1 Corinthians 15:58 Your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
It is easy to analyze, scrutinize, and talk about the problems in the world or in church, but we need people who will do something about them.
New Living Translation Nehemiah 1:1-4 Nehemiah asked about what was the state of Jerusalem and the people there. After he heard the answer, he did something about the problem. There are people who ask just to satisfy their minds but do not help.
Haggai 1: 1-3, 7-9 It is time to build the Lord's house.
Zechariah 4:6-10 (Easy to read version). The house of the Lord will be built and it will be completed. Not by power nor by might, but by the Spirit of God.

MY PEOPLE ARE DESTROYED FOR LACK OF KNOWLEDGE
(31-01-2010, 07-02-2010)
As we desire to know the Lord more, the Lord also admonishes us to have knowledge. Hosea 4:6 God’s people are destroyed for lack of knowledge
Isaiah 1:19 If you are willing and obedient you shall eat the good of the land.
3John 2 I pray that all may go well with you and that you be in good health even as your soul prospers.
Proverbs 18:20-21Death and life are in the power of the tongue.
Health and long life:
Isaiah 53:1, 4-5 1Peter 2:24 God’s report : By the stripes of the Lord Jesus you are healed. World’s report : Cancer is incurable. HIV is incurable. Which report will you believe?
Deuteronomy 7:12-15 (Easy Version) God promised the Israelites that if they obeyed him, he would bless them and take way sickness from their midst and there would be neither barrenness nor miscarriage among them.
There are Christians who catch flu, but I want you to catch the word of God and be healed. Your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, not the temple of sickness.
Exodus 23:25-26 The Lord will take sickness away from among his people.
Proverbs 4:20-23 God’s word is health to all your flesh. It works for those who find it. Medicine should be taken according to the doctor’s instruction. If he says take two tablets three times a day for one week – you do exactly as he advised. You believe it works even when you still feel pain.
“Take these verses as often as possible; meditate on them day and night. If the condition gets worse, double the dose.”
Mark 5:25-34 The woman with the issue of blood could not be healed by doctors for 12 years, but her faith in Jesus healed her.
Ephesians 6:1-3 Honouring your parents is a commandment with a promise of living well and also having long life on the earth.
Psalms 91:14-16 The Lord satisfies us with long life Philippians 1:20- 25 (Easy Version) Paul was faced with a choice whether to live or to die and be with Christ. After considering all the factors he chose to live for the benefit of those who needed him.
2Timothy 4:6-7 When Paul finished his race, he was ready to depart (die).

AGAPE (THE GOD KIND OF LOVE)
(14-02-2010, 21-02-2010)
Agape – God kind of love. Unselfish love. The love that desires to bless. A love of will rather than emotions. God's unconditional love
Phileo – natural love (love of mother to child or parent to child) – 2Samuel 13:39 (27-30, 37-39) David longed for Absalom. Even though Absalom was responsible for the death of his brother Amnon, after he ran away for 3 years, David missed him as his son.
"Even though this child is a criminal, he is still my child and I love him."
Phileo - "to have ardent affection and feeling"—a type of impulsive love
. Luke 15:17-24 The father loved his son irrespective of what he did wrong. Eros – the romantic love
1 Corinthians 13:8 Agape never fails. For eros and phileo to last against all challenges, agape should be the base.
1Corinthians 13:1-8 (Amplified) What is love?
Love does not insist on its own rights or its own way. Love does not keep record of wrongs (forgives)
John 13:34-35 Agape is not a recommendation but a command. It is not based on feeling but a will to love.
Matthew 5:43-48 Love your enemies.
Luke 23:34 Jesus demonstrated how to love your enemies and prayed for them. "Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they do."
1John 4:7-21 God is love. We also ought to love one another.

THE POWER OF PRAISE
(21-03-2010)

IT IS FINISHED
(04-04-2010)
John 19:28-30 Jesus, knowing that all things were accomplished... "It is finished". He paid the full price for our sins and sickness.
Romans 3:23-25 All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. On our own we cannot be righteous, but through the blood of Jesus we are made righteous (in right standing with God).
Romans 6:23 The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ
. Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ; nevertheless I live, yet not I but Christ lives in me...
Isaiah 53:1- 7 He was wounded and bruised that he had no form. People would even look away from him. He carried our sorrows and bore our griefs.

Training up a child
Psalms 127:3 Children are a gift from the Lord. Proverbs 22:6 Train up your children in the ways of the Lord. The Lord who gave you the children knows how you should raise them up. It is a great responsibility to raise up children.
Training involves teaching by example.
Training also involves discipline.
Proverbs 22:15 Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child, but the rod of correction will drive it out. Do not discipline children using a clap – you are not fighting with them.

Proverbs 22:15 Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child, but the rod of correction will drive it out. Do not discipline children using a clap – you are not fighting with them.
THERE IS POWER IN THE NAME OF JESUS

BABY DEDICATION – M
(01-05-2010) Psalms 127:3-5 (Living) Children are a gift from the Lord. The one who gives us children also tells us how to train these children to grow in the ways of the Lord. The Bible is like the manufacturer's manual.
Psalms 112:1-2 The children of the upright shall be blessed. My children shall be mighty upon the earth – not naughty upon the earth. I expect my children to hold important positions on the earth.
Genesis 27:2-12, 25-38 Isaac, Rebekah, Jacob and Esau knew the importance of a blessing.
Jacob had to cheat Esau out of his blessings. Blessings empower us to prosper and succeed while curses empower people to fail.
Jacob, "I will never let you go unless you bless me."
Matthew 19:13-15 Jesus blessed the children. "In the name of Jesus Christ I pronounce the Lord's blessings upon you. You shall stay in good health. You shall grow with good parental care. You shall be wise in school. You will grow to be mighty upon the earth. In the name of Jesus, you are blessed."
Rebekah did not have authority to bless the children, only Isaac did. Even in Matthew, we see that the parents could not bless their own children, they brought them to Jesus.
Blessing includes protection and prosperity.

PLEASING THE FATHER
(09-11-1008, 25-04-2010,02-05-2010)
Matthew 3:17 God is pleased with children who obey him. God loves you as His child, but is He pleased with you?
Job 1:8 God was proud of Job. Can he be proud of you?
John 8:29 Jesus always wanted to please the Father
John 4:31-34 My food is to do the will of my father and to finish his work.
Psalms 119:9 If you want to please the Father, live according to His word.
John 6:63 The words of Christ are spirit and they are life; the flesh profits nothing. DO NOT PLEASE THE FLESH AT THE EXPENSE OF YOUR SPIRIT.
Hebrews 11:6 It is impossible to please God without faith; he who comes to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. Faith gives God an opportunity to intervene on our behalf, but fear and worry give Satan an opportunity to torment us.
2Chronicles 16:7-9 Rely on God and not on people. God's eyes are moving to and fro throughout the whole earth, he is looking for those whose hearts are perfect toward him so that he can show himself strong on their behalf.
2Timothy 2:1-5, 15-16,20-26
You are a soldier in God's army. Always do your best to please your commander in chief, the Lord Jesus Christ. Always obey the instructions of the Lord.
Be skilful in the word. Live by the Word.
Avoid godless talk. Avoid foolish and stupid arguments.
In a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also vessels of wood and clay. There are vessels of honour and those of dishonour. If you cleanse yourself you can be a vessel of honour, sanctified and worthy for the Master's use.
Luke 12:22-32 It is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Do not worry. Your father knows your needs and he cares for you. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Treasure the word of God more than everything else.
Matthew 25:19-21 The Master will come back and each one of us will give account of how we lived on the earth. My desire is to hear him say, "Well done, good and faithful servant." Be faithful to the assignment. Stick to the reason of your existence.

SERVING THE LORD WILLINGLY
(23-05-2010) 1Timothy 1:12-16 I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has counted me faithful and put me in the ministry. Each one of us who is called into a specific ministry, we start by answering the first call of accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and saviour. I will say yes Lord.
Joshua 24:15,21 Serving the Lord is a choice. You should do it willingly.
Have a mind to work.
Nehemiah 4:6 "…, for the people had a mind to work." (King James Version). Do you have a mind to work? I mean working without anybody pushing you. Having a mind like that of Jesus whose delight was to do the will of the Father and to finish His work. (John 4:34)
Let's learn from the book of Nehemiah how to work.
It is easy to analyse, scrutinise and talk about the problems in the world or in the church. But we need people who are like Nehemiah who take action to solve the problem. Did you know that people who are committed to church do not have time to criticize or gossip?
Nehemiah 1:1-4 Nehemiah asked about the Jews who had survived the captivity and about how things were going in Jerusalem. After he heard the answer, he did something about the problem. There are people who ask just to satisfy their minds but do not help. But Nehemiah was a true servant of the Lord. He had a mind to work.
Doing the Lord's work does not mean you will go unchallenged. Opposition will come to try and stop you from fulfilling what God has called you to do. Expect opposition and challenges as you do the Lord's work.
Nehemiah 4:1-6 Sanballat and Tobiah were used by the enemy as source of discouragement, but people continued to work because they had a mind to work.
When the enemy tries to discourage you, take courage.
Nehemiah 6:16 As we succeed with tasks that look impossible, our enemy will know that the work had been done with the help of our God.
Haggai 1:14 When the Lord wanted his house to be built, he stirred up the spirit of His people to work on the house.
2 Corinthians 8:11-12 If there be first a willing mind, our offerings will be accepted according to what we have.
2 Corinthians 9:7 Even when you give, do it cheerfully and willingly.

NOW THAT WE ARE CHRISTIANS
(Baptism service – Beacon of Hope – 14-11-2010) Romans 6:1-12 In baptism you die with Jesus and rise up with him. You get into the water an old person, but you rise up a new person. Baptism is a symbol. It is a demonstration of what took place in your heart. With my old man, I served sin. I died, and now I have risen a new man in Christ. Now I serve Christ.
Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who lives, but Christ lives in me.
I cannot claim that "you don't know me, I will show you who I am". Instead I should say "I will show you who Jesus is".
1Peter 3:8-21 We have a new way of life in Christ. We do things differently. We do not pay revenge. We do good even to those who are bad to us. We control our tongues – not speak lies, curses or gossip. Baptism is a symbol of salvation. It is an answer of a good conscience toward God.
Acts 8:36-38 Believing in Jesus is a pre-requisite for baptism. Believe first, then you can be baptised.
2Corinthians 5:14-21 Jesus died for us. We died with him. We no longer live for ourselves but for him who died for us. If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. Old things are passed away and all things have become new. God has reconciled us to himself through Jesus (We are not longer at log-ahead with God). We are ambassadors for Christ. We represent the kingdom of God on the earth. This dying world should have hope by looking at the ambassadors. We are God's co-workers. We work for God's company.

WE ARE OVERCOMERS
14-05-2006, 21-05-2006 1John 5:4-5 We who are born of God overcome the world through our faith. We have winning genes in us because our Father is a winner.
Revelation 12:7-11 Satan is defeated. The only weapon that the devil has is deception. If he cannot deceive you, then he cannot defeat you. We overcome Satan by the blood of the lamb and by the word of our testimony.
Ephesians 6:10-18 We do not fight the devil with our own armour but with God's armour. You are no match for Satan if you fight him in your own power. Some people even become hopeless even to the point of suicide because they cannot match the devil on their own.
We do not fight against flesh and blood.
In any confrontation with the enemy, we stand our ground until we win.
Romans 8:31,35,37-39 God is on our side. Nobody can defeat us. Nothing can separate us from the love of God.

THERE'S GOT TO BE MORE
(19 - 20 JUNE 2010) The church of Jesus has to be a place full of the Lord's presence. Despite the fact that some of us are born again and filled with the Holy Spirit, there are times when we feel dry. Sometimes going to church becomes routine. People of the world are hungry for the spiritual. They need help. When they can't see God in the church, they turn to cults.
God wants to manifest his glory. He wants to fill us. But we have to be hungry for Him.
Matthew 5:3,6 Blessed are those who know that they are spiritually in need and realize their need for him; for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Those who hunger and thirst for righteousness will be filled.
Psalms 63:1-8 Earnestly I seek you. My soul thirsts for you. I want to see your power and your glory, oh Lord. I stay close to the Lord.
Let's seek him and not just his blessings.
Hebrews 11:6 God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him.
WE NEED HIS MANIFESTED PRESENCE, NOT JUST FORMULAE AND STEPS.
Jeremiah 29:13 If we seek him with all our hearts, we will find him.
Genesis 5:22,24 Enoch walked with God
Philippians 3:8-21 I want to know Christ. I consider all things as nothing in comparison to knowing Christ. I can forfeit pleasures and anything else in order to gain Christ. I do not count myself to have arrived, I keep on pressing on toward the goal.
(Exodus 33:16).
Luke 4:18 It is the anointing that makes the difference.

Exodus 3:7-10 The Lord sees the suffering of his people and he wants to deliver them. But he wants to use his church to deliver his people.
Amos 3:7 The Sovereign Lord does nothing without telling his servants.
Matthew 16:17-19 Jesus is building his church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. We have been given the keys of the kingdom. Declare things forbidden or permitted and it shall be so. The key may look small but it can unlock big doors. Not everybody has been given the keys.
1John 3:8 Jesus was manifested so that he might destroy the works of the devil. Jesus wants to use us to destroy the works of the devil.

How do I honour the Lord with my substance?
1. Offerings:
2Corinthians 8:5,12 You need to give yourself first to the Lord and then you will be able to give freely to the Lord. You should first have a willing mind.
2Corinthians 9:7 Give as you have purposed in your heart. Do not give grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. ***We also want our children to do things for us without grumbling.
2Corinthians 9:6,10 Sow generously and you will reap generously.
2Corinthians 9:8,11 God makes all grace come to us in abundance, so that we may always under all circumstances and whatever the need be self sufficient. We are enriched in every way so that we can be generous on every occasion.
NIV "God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all you need, you will abound in every good work." "You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion…"
2. Tithe
Genesis 3:9-13 When God asks the question he already has the answer. But he asks it to help us to search ourselves. When God said, "Adam where are you?" he wanted Adam to search himself.
Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from? What is this you have done?
Malachi 3:8 God again asks a question that we need to think about. "Will a man rob God?"
What is a tithe?
Leviticus 27:30-32 Ten percent of your income is the Lord's. (one out of every ten). Tithe is the Lord's. It is holy unto the Lord.
Malachi 3:8-12 Tithing is a way of involving God in our finances.
We cannot afford to rob God because that brings a curse. We want God to open windows of heaven and pour us out a blessing that we shall not have room enough to receive it. God also will rebuke the devourer for our sake. People will call us blessed when they see that we have a delightsome land.
The government takes its tax from you but God encourages you to voluntarily give him his tithe. God gives us an opportunity to be faithful. He does not force us to give him his tithe.
Matthew 22:15-21 Render to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what is His.
Hebrews 7:4-10 The Levites received tithes, but Levi also paid the tithes when he was in the loins of Abraham. Note that this verse does not say Levi offered, but paid. It is because the tithe is not ours.
Malachi 3:10 "Bring all the tithes..." Again, this verse does not say offer the tithe but 'bring'.
WHERE SHOULD I BRING MY TITHE TO?
To my local church
Jesus is our high priest who receives our tithe
Deuteronomy 26:2,3,12-16 Hebrews 7:4-10
3. Giving to the needy
Acts 10:1-4 Cornelius gave regularly to the needy
Let's learn from how the Israelites did it

2Corinthians 5:21 Jesus took my sin nature so that I may take on his righteousness. I was a sinner, but now I am the righteousness of God in Christ. God sees me through the blood.
Exodus 12:21-24 The Passover. The blood preserved the Israelites from the destroyer. The blood of Jesus can also protect and preserve you from the destroyer. You need to speak the blood over your house and over the transport you use.

CULTURAL DAY CELEBRATION
(26-09-2010) FROM ONE MAN GOD MADE ALL DIFFERENT PEOPLE
Acts 17:26 We are all from one man (Adam). We are from different nations and cultures, but we were made of one blood.
Acts 17:16-34 Paul understood and respected other people's culture. Let's not judge each other's culture; we must only judge what is contrary to the Word of God.
1Corinthians 9:19-23 Paul could adapt to other people and their culture as long as it was not contrary to the Word of God.
Colossians 2:4-8, 16-23 Now that you are a Christian, let nobody deceive you to follow tradition of men. Do not be swayed from Christ because of culture.

Diversity should be seen as strength. Let's treasure and appreciate our uniqueness. We are like flowers of different types and colours which blend together to make a beautiful whole.

Do not be satisfied with the status quo. God can change your situation.

FRIENDSHIP WITH THE LORD
(10-10-10) John 15:12-15 We can develop friendship with the Lord. We can grow in fellowshipping with him. (A relationship cannot be improved upon; but friendship can be nurtured through fellowship).

FRIENDSHIP WITH THE LORD
(Part 2 : 17-10-2010) God is our father but there are times when he wants to fellowship with us as friends.
The Lord wants to fill us and to refresh us so that when we go to serve we will draw from our union with the Master. They reason why at times we are dry is that we want to serve without first receiving from the Lord himself.
Isaiah 40:30 – 31 Even the youth will grow tired and weary. But those who wait upon the Lord will renew their strength. There are times in my life when I do not know what to do. When I fellowship with the Lord he breathes fresh air into my situation – Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit; says the Lord (Zechariah 4:6).
Psalms 26:1 Vindicate me oh Lord, for I have led a blameless life.
Jeremiah 33:3, John 16:13 – Let's spend time with the Lord, he wants to reveal things to us and to show us things to come. The Lord wants to use us. But we have to spend time with him to get his instruction.
John 14:10-31 Jesus lived a life of total surrender to the Father. Whatever he spoke were not his own words – he only spoke what the Father directed him. If we want to be used mightily by the Lord, we have to be in constant union with him.
John 15:1-17 We cannot be fruitful if we do not remain united to the Lord. If we are his friends, we will have constant fellowship with him.
Acts 4:13 If we have been with Jesus, people will recognize that. You may be an ordinary person, but if you have been with Jesus, people will recognize you.

Romans 8:31,35,37-39 God is on our side. Nobody can defeat us. Nothing can separate us from the love of God. I am persuaded of our victory; we are more than conquerors through Christ.
Micah 7:8-10 The warning to those who laugh at your failure is that they must not rejoice because you will rise again and they will be covered with shame.
Failure is not final. Failure only means that you will arrive a little bit later (but you will still achieve if you try again). A successful person is the one who knows how to stand up even after a disappointment. Don't focus on your failures/limitations but focus on the unlimited God. As long as the Lord is on your side you can make it.

GOD IS THE AUTHOR OF MARRIAGE
(Renewal of marriage vows of Mr & Mrs N 31-10-2010) God is the one who instituted marriage.
Genesis 2:18-24 God is the one who said, "It is not good for a man to be alone, I will make a companion he needs". Even though there were many animals and birds, a suitable companion for the man could not be found. God made a woman specifically for the man. That's why a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife. A marriage is for the two people only.
Matthew 19:5-6 God is the one who joins the two in marriage when they are blessed. No one should separate what God has joined together.
John 2:1-10 Jesus was invited to the marriage/wedding of Cana in Galilee. When they ran short of wine, the mother of Jesus told the servants to do whatever Jesus tells them. Some marriages are breaking because they do not listen to Jesus. When you have problems in your marriage, do you listen to Jesus? Psalms 1:1-2 Do you get counsel from God in your marriage?
If you have invited Jesus to your marriage, whenever you run short of wine he will always give you a fresh wine (John 2:10).
Every day with Jesus is sweeter than the day before.
2Corinthians 4:16 Though the outward man is getting older and weaker, the inward man is renewed day by day.

(07-11-2010) Mark 11:12-14,20-24 Believe that what you say will happen and it shall happen.
Matthew 8:5-13 The centurion believed and Jesus told him that it would be done as he believed.
Mark 5:21-24,35-43 Jairus believed that his daughter would be healed if Jesus would put his hands on her. When people came and told him that his daughter was dead, Jesus encouraged him not to be afraid but only to believe. His daughter was raised from the dead.

2Kings 6:24-31,7:1-2,16-20 The man of God brought the word from God during famine stating that there would be abundance of food the next day. The officer said that it would not happen. The man of God told him that it would happen but he will only see it but will not eat it. Be careful what you say.
I believe what God has said.

THE GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
(08-03-2009, 15-08-2010)
John16:7-8 When you get born again, it is the Holy Spirit who convicts you.
You are born again of the Spirit and the Holy Spirit dwells in you. John 3:3-8, Romans 8:9-11, 1Corinthians 3:16
John 14:16-17
John 7:37-39 If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Streams of living water will flow from within him – this refers to the Holy Spirit. He who believes in Jesus, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water. This is the flow of the Holy Spirit flowing even to help others. Note that the river can be used by others also, while a well is usually for personal use.
Acts 1:4-8 Baptism with the Holy Spirit – (Spirit upon).
Acts 2:38-39 After being born again, you are ready to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 19:1-6 Acts 1:8
When we are filled with the Holy Ghost, we receive miraculous power to operate in the supernatural realm. The original Greek word for power is: dunamis (doo'-nam-is) – miraculous power/might/violence (dynamite).
Genesis 1:1-3 The Holy Spirit is like a potential energy – he is always ready to bring to fruition God's plan. He is there even in the midst of chaos – all we need to do is recognize him and give him an opportunity to help us. He is gentle – he does not force things.
Acts 2:1-4 Speaking in tongues is a manifestation of baptism in the Holy Ghost. When you speak in your language you speak as the mind gives the utterance but when you speak in tongues you speak as the Spirit gives the utterance.
1Corinthians 13:1 There are tongues of men (languages spoken somewhere else – Acts 2:4-8) and tongues of angels.
The evidence that you have received the gift of the Holy Spirit is speaking in other tongues. And they were filled with the Holy Spirit and they began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 10:44-48 THEY WERE ALL FILLED
There are therefore three types of tongues:
Praying in tongues.
Tongues from man to God, for private edification, prayer and praise to God, and messages in tongues from God to man. Obviously tongues to God (1 Corinthians 14:2) require no interpretation, since God understands all languages. 1Corinthians 14:2,4-6,14-19 Praying in tongues is for every Christian who is baptized in the Holy Spirit.
(2) Prophecies in tongues (with interpretation) (1 Corinthians 14:5- 9).
There are also messages in tongues from God to man. Tongues which form a message to people require interpretation in most cases. This kind of tongues is a spiritual gift for the edification of others. It was of this gift and ministry that Paul was speaking of when he taught that not all speak in tongues (1 Corinthians 12:28-30). In those verses it is talking about ministries in the church - not about the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. According to Mark 16:17 all can speak in tongues in the sense mentioned in 1 Corinthians 14:2 - prayer in tongues to God - see point (1). But not all those baptised in the Holy Spirit will prophesy or give messages in tongues.
(3) However, in the case where the speaker is speaking by the spirit words in a human language understood by the hearers but not by himself, it can be said that tongues are a sign for the unbelieving (Acts 2:8; 1 Corinthains 14:22). This kind of sign is happening sometimes even in our days.
Acts 2:12-18 They were not drunk with wine but they were filled with the Holy Ghost. In these last days God is pouring out his Spirit upon all flesh.

THE CHURCH IS MOVING ON
29-03-2009
Matthew 16:18-19 Jesus is building his church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. He himself is the one building his church we are just his instruments. Satan cannot stop the church. The gates of hell cannot prevail against the church.
We have the keys of the kingdom of heaven. The hopeless world will find hope in Christ through the church.
2Kings 5:1-15 Naaman was a great man and a valiant soldier, but he had leprosy. Some people may be regarded great in the earth, but there are times when their greatness cannot save them. When the world has nothing more to offer, God still has a lot to offer through his servants.
Can servants call their masters to church to get help?
Daniel 7:18 We have received the kingdom and will possess it forever and ever. Unfortunately, some Christians are not aware of the authority they have.
2Corinthians 5:20 We are Christ's ambassadors. The world will know Christ through us. People will experience the power of God through us.

TRUSTING IN THE LORD
(06-06-2004, 17-05-2008, 05-03-2009)
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding.
"Trust" A patient undergoing surgery trusts the anaesthetist and put his life on the hands of that anaesthetist.
Matthew 14:24-32
Peter took a step of faith by trusting in Jesus
walking on the water (in the midst of the sea not in the shallow
river). This was a big risk. He relied/depended on the Lord.
He did not lean on his understanding that the water is liquid and
he can sink deep in the sea. But when he started looking at the
wind he was afraid and he began to sink. What does walking on
the water have to do with the wind? He was very close to his
destination (Jesus). Some Christians sink when they are about to
reach their miracle
When they reached the ship, the wind ceased.
It is as if the wind was there just to test Peter's faith.
2 Chronicles 14:9-12 Asa trusted God and he defeated a million
Ethiopians. He believed that God can save with many or with them
that have no power. The main thing is to rely (trust) in the Lord.
Romans 10:11 (Ampl) Anyone who trusts/relies in the Lord will never be put to shame.
Psalms 118:8-9 It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.
2 Chronicles 16:1-13 Asa trusted in people and the Lord was displeased. He relied on the king of Syria. Even when he was sick, he trusted in physicians and he did not seek God.
Psalms 20:7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.

IT IS FINISHED
(Holy Communion 19-04-2009)
John 19:28-30 The mission has been accomplished. Jesus said, "It is finished". He paid the price of everything needed for my salvation, forgiveness of sins, healing, protection and prosperity.
Revelation 12:11 We overcome Satan by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of our testimony.
(Remission of sins & Protection)
1John 1:7-2:2 The blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin. Note that it says sin and not sins. This refers to the sinful nature. But after you have been cleansed from the sinful nature, you should not sin. However, if you sin, you must confess your sins and God will forgive you. The blood of Jesus will continue to cleanse you.
2Corinthians 5:21 Jesus took my sin nature so that I may take on his righteousness. I was a sinner, but now I am the righteousness of God in Christ. God sees me through the blood.

GOD CARES FOR YOU
(08-08-2004) Part 2
1Peter 3:12 The eyes of the Lord are upon you and His ears are open to your prayers.
Hebrews 13:5,6 The Lord will never leave you nor forsake you.
There may be times when it seems like the Lord has forsaken you or forgotten about you but He never does.
Let's look at Joseph's life.
Genesis 37:3-8,18-28 Joseph had dreams that indicated that his brothers will bow to him.
Joseph was hated by his brethren (family members) and they threw him into the pit and then sold him away. They wanted to kill him to kill his dreams.
Genesis 39:2,21 It does not matter where you are but it matters who is with you.
Genesis 39:7-21 Joseph was accused and even jailed for something he never did. God allowed all this to happen because Joseph was on track to the fulfilment of his dream without knowing it. Turn stumbling blocks into stepping stones.
Genesis 40:14,15,23 Joseph helped the butler with his dream and requested him to remember him before Pharaoh but the butler forgot about him. Do you know how hurting it is to help people and they forget about you?
Genesis 41:1,8-16 Even if people may forget you but God's eyes are always upon you. He does not forget about you. After two years, Pharaoh had a dream and there was nobody to interpret it. Then the butler remembered Joseph and mentioned him to Pharaoh that he interprets dreams.
Genesis 41:37- Your promotion may be delayed but you can never be denied your promotion
Genesis 37:2 and Genesis 41:46, Genesis 45:6 shows that it took many years from the time Joseph had a dream until it came to pass.
13 (30-17) years + 7 + 2 years = 22
Genesis 42:6-11 Joseph's brothers ended up bowing down to him.

WILL A MAN ROB GOD?
(03-05-2009, 17-05-2009)
The role of a pastor is not only to tell the congregation what it wants to hear but to deliver God's message. The congregants can then decide whether to obey God or not.
Genesis 3:9 When God asks the question he already has the answer. But he asks it to help us to search ourselves. When God said, "Adam where are you?" he wanted Adam to search himself. On any subject matter God can ask us "Where are you?"
Malachi 3:8 God again asks a question that we need to think about. "Will a man rob God?" Let me also ask all of you in front of me today, "Where are you regarding tithes and offerings?" "Are you robbing God?"
What is a tithe?
Leviticus 27:30-32 Ten percent of your income is the Lord's. (one out of every ten). Tithe is the Lord's. It is holy unto the Lord.
Malachi 3:10 "Bring all the tithes..."
Deuteronomy 8:10-18 Remember that it is God who gave you power to get wealth. Do not think that you are making it on your own. Beware that you do not forget the Lord your God.
Benefits (Blessings) of a tither
If you need the blessings of a tither, then you should tithe.
Malachi 3:8-12
We must not rob God or else we will be under a curse.
Playing a role in making sure that there is food in God's house.
The Lord will open windows of heaven and shower us with blessings.
The Lord will rebuke the devourer for our sake.
You will have a delightful land and people will call you blessed.
>This is a heart issue. It is a matter between you and your God.
>It takes the work of the Holy Spirit for you to understand this.
>The natural human reaction is to defend keeping money.
>Luke 16:10-15 God wants to see if we will be faithful with money. If you are unfaithful with money, how can God trust you with bigger things? No one can serve two masters. You cannot serve both God and money.
>1Chronicles 29:14-18 When we give, we are giving God from what he gave us first. We should do it willingly knowing that God knows what is in our hearts.
>2Corinthians 9:5- Give as you have purposed in your heart; not grudgingly.
2Corinthians 9:8,11 God makes all grace come to us in abundance, so that we may always under all circumstances and whatever the need be self sufficient. We are enriched in every way so that we can be generous on every occasion. You may look at this verse in NIV translation:
"God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all you need, you will abound in every good work." "You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion…"

I AM FREE INDEED
(24-05-2009, 31-05-2009)
John 8:31-36 I continue in the Word of God, I know the truth and the truth has set me free. If the Son sets you free, you shall be free indeed. I am free from the dominion of sin. I am free from fear. I am not even a slave of other people's opinions. I am who God says I am.
Romans 8:1-2 The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and death.
Romans 10:6-11 The Word of faith is near you; in your mouth and in your heart. Believe it in your heart and then speak what you believe.
Romans 10:17. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. If you want to have faith, expose yourself to hearing the word. Hear the word as you speak it; hear the word as it is preached.
Psalms 1:1-3 My delight is in the word of God. The word gives me success and prosperity.
Joshua 1:8 I will not let the word of God depart from my mouth. I will meditate on it day and night, so that I can be prosperous in all my ways.
Proverbs 4:20-22
Luke 10:38-42 Most people are very busy with many things but only one thing is needful – the word. In every situation you need the word.
>2Timothy 1:5-7 You have what it takes to win. You have not been given the spirit of fear; but of power, love and a sound mind.
Matthew 16:13-19 People may have different views on who you are. They are even entitled to their own opinions. You need to know who you are so that you do not become a slave of how people perceive you. You are not people's opinion, you are God's opinion.
1Chronicles 4:9-10 Do not allow your background/ your past to shape your future. Jabez refused to be modelled by his mother's opinion.
Your past is gone. Let go of your past. You cannot change your past but you can determine your destiny.
Joshua 1:1-9 After the death of Moses, Joshua had to take over. Acknowledge that you cannot keep on holding to the past. The Moses era is gone. It is now your turn. God will be with you. Nobody will be able to block you. Be strong and of a good courage. The word of God should not depart from your mouth. Keep on confessing God's Word. Keep on meditating on God's Word. Observe to do the word of God. Then you will make your way prosperous and have good success. The Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
Nothing should stop you from being used of God. Think of Saul who later became Paul. He was a persecutor of Christians.
Even in the genealogy (generation) of Jesus Christ, there were some people that according to world's view they could not have been chosen to be part of Jesus genealogy. But God is no respector of persons.
Matthew 1:3 Perez was born out of wedlock, but we see him as part of the genealogy of Jesus
-Tamar begat Pharez with Judah (out of wedlock).
Genesis 38:11-30
Why should you feel unworthy? These may have been more unworthy than you.
I can do all things through Christ. Philippians 4:13
I am who God says I am.
I can do what God says I can do.
WE ARE ON A JOURNEY/RACE
(07-06-2009)
2Timothy 4:6-8 At the end of your journey, you need to be able to speak like Paul – I have fought a good fight, I have finished the race and I have remained faithful; now the price is waiting for me.
Hebrews 12:1- We are surrounded by a lot of witnesses to the life of faith; let us strip off every weight that slows us down (e.g ungodly friends), especially the sin that hinders our progress. Sin is likes hurdles in a race- they are assigned to slow your progress. If you want to run the race and complete it you need to fix your eyes on Jesus – on whom your faith depends from start to finish.
2Timothy 2:3-5 As a soldier of Christ, do not let yourself be tied down to the affairs of this life. Follow the Lord's rules so that you will not be disqualified.
In honour of the youth, let's look at the youth who understood the importance of keeping your focus on the race.
Daniel 1:3-20 Daniel made up his mind that he will not defile himself. How many of you have made up your mind that you will not defile yourself by sexual immorality, alcohol or any such things?
God gave Daniel special ability in understanding visions and dreams.
The 4 were the best and they were appointed to the top positions.
You can get the top jobs without first having to compromise what you stand for (no bribe or any favours) but just be faithful.
Matthew 25:14-30 (19-21) Well done, good and faithful servant.

ACTIVATING YOUR MIRACLE
(21-06-2009, 28-06-2009)
An example of electric switch – electric power is there but you have to switch it on to experience the power.
Mark 5:25-34
The woman with the issue of blood activated her miracle. Jesus did not decide to release the power to heal her. She touched his garment and she was healed, then Jesus realised that virtue had gone out of him. Her faith made her whole. What would have happened if she did not go to Jesus? The healing of the woman with the issue of blood was up to her. If she did not go to Jesus she could have bled to death.
Jesus does not always respond to crowds but He always responds to faith.
It is not that the woman with the issue of blood was not doing anything about her situation, but whatever she was doing was not working. It may be the same also in your life. But things only started to change when she went to Jesus. You may also need to go to the man of God in faith knowing that God will change your situation through him.
2Kings 7:3-10
The four lepers were not satisfied by their state of affair. "Why sit we here until we die?"
So why do you also not do something about your situation? If you do not activate your miracle, your circumstances will not change. Believe God to change your situation. Even though God has good plans for you, you have a part to play in letting those plans come to pass.
Matthew 15:22-28
The Canaanite woman received the miracle for her daughter because of her faith. Even though there were discouraging circumstances, she persisted until she got what she wanted (the healing of her daughter)
*A RED ROBOT MAY DELAY YOU – BUT WAIT FOR GREEN AND PROCEED – DON'T MAKE A U TURN.
*YOU MAY BE DELAYED BUT YOU CANNOT BE DENIED.
*FAILURE JUST MEANS THAT YOU WILL BE DELAYED BUT YOU CAN STILL REACH YOUR DESTINATION IF YOU PERSIST.
Mark 10:46-52 The crowd was moving with Jesus. Among them, there might have been some who had need. But Jesus stopped to attend to the cry of faith. Many people tried to silence Bartimaeus. But he could not be stopped because he wanted his miracle.
Jesus asks, "What do you want me to do for you?"
Tell Jesus what you want.
Bartimaeus initiated his healing by calling on Jesus and telling Jesus what he wanted. "I want to receive my sight" It was not up to Jesus for Bartimaeus to be healed, Jesus was passing by.
God has already done his part. Now the ball is in our court.
*Deuteronomy 30:19-20 You have a choice – life or death, blessings or curses. The choice is yours.
*Isaiah 1:19-20 If you be willing and obedient you shall eat the good of the land but if you refuse and rebel you shall be devoured by the sword. From this verse does it seem like for you to eat the good of the land is God's choice ?
Joshua 1:8 "You will make your way prosperous"
2 Kings 4:8-37
The Shunemite woman blessed the man of God, and she received the blessing from God. She was rich but her money could not buy a child. But the man of God could proclaim and declare that she would have a son. She got a son as the man of God had said. When the son died, she did not call the funeral undertakers, but she called the man of God. "All is well."
1Kings 17:8-16
When God sent Elijah to be fed by the widow woman, He wanted to bless her. Why did God not command a rich man to feed Elijah. The widow woman had to give Elijah a piece of cake to activate her miracle – otherwise she would have eaten her last meal and died.
Matthew 13:44-46 Seek the hidden treasure. It is yours but you need to find it.
Matthew 16:19 The Lord has given you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Heaven wants to back you up as you enforce the kingdom of God on the earth.

THE ART OF FAITH
(11-07-2009)
Use your faith like a mechanic uses a tool. But you need to be skilled.
Genesis 1:1-3 In darkness, God said, "Light, be."
Mark 4:37-40 In the midst of the storm, Jesus rebuked the wind and said to the waves, "Peace, be still"
What do you do when things seem to be dark or when you are going through the storms?
Romans 10:17 Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Luke 17:5-6 Faith does not grow by asking for it. It grows as you use it. You use your faith by speaking what you believe.
2Corinthians 4:13 The spirit of faith speaks what it believes
What have you been speaking? Faith or unbelief. Remember your words can curse or bless.
Mark 11:13,14,21 When Jesus spoke to the fig tree, that was a curse because he said no one will ever again eat fruit from that tree. How many of you have spoken a curse over your future or even over other people?
Hebrews 11:1 What is faith? (Amplified = title deed) It is like a bank statement which proves how much you have in the bank even if you do not see the money, you believe the statement.
2Corinthians 5:7 We walk by faith and not by sight.
A good example is a fishing line which moves as an evidence that the fish is biting – a fisherman does not have to see the fish with his naked eyes first.
Bacteria are there but they cannot be seen with natural eyes, they can only be visible under a microscope.
Healing, protection, success etc are there but you have to first see them in the spiritual so that they can also be manifested in the natural.
2Corinthians 4:18 We look at the things which are not seen
Romans 4:17-24 Example of Abraham's faith.
Hebrews 10:35-36 Do not cast away your confidence because it has great recompense of reward.
You need patience to support your faith. Never give up.

KNOW YOUR BATTLE
(25-07-2009)
Which battles should you fight and which ones should you not fight?
Who is your enemy? How do you fight?
Romans 12:2 Don't be conformed to this world. Do not think like the people of this world.
Romans 12:14-21 Do good to your enemies. Don't pay revenge. Allow God to fight for you.
Matthew 5:44-48 Be good to those who are bad to you. Bless your enemies.
Exodus 23:22 The Lord declares, "I will be an enemy to your enemies. I will oppose those who oppose you."
Hebrews 13:5-6 The Lord is on my side. He defends me. What can anybody do to me?
2Corinthians 10:3-5 Though we walk in the flesh, we don't war after the flesh. Our enemies that we fight are not people.
Ephesians 6:10- We do not fight against flesh and blood but against the forces of darkness. Your enemy is not your neighbour/wife/husband/mother in law – but the spiritual evil forces that are making them to behave in an evil way.
2Timothy 2:3-5 A soldier does not behave like civilians. He should be aware of the responsibility upon his shoulders.

GOD'S PLAN FOR YOUR LIFE
(15-11-2009)
*Ephesians 2:10 You are God's handiwork. God created you for good works. He planned your life before you were born. God wants us to leave according to the plan he has for us.
He called me to be his servant. He called me to establish Jesus The Saviour church here in Cape Town. He called some of you to be part of this vision.
*Jeremiah 1:5 God knew you even before you were formed in your mother's womb. He has appointed us for a purpose. Let's fulfil his plan for our lives.
Let's build in line with the plan. Don't build skew.
*Ephesians 1:4,5,11 Actually God chose us before the foundation of the world. He makes out everything to work according to his plan.
*Jeremiah 29:11 God has good plans for us. Even though the children of Israel were in captivity, God had not forgotten them. God has not forgotten about you.
* 1Chronicles 4:9-10 Jabez (sorrow maker/pain) did not allow his past to determine his future. He prayed that evil and hurt (pain) should be far from him; and God granted him his request.
1Chronicles 4:9-10 "Enlarge my boarder."
Isaiah 54:2 Enlarge the place of your tent, lengthen your cords. Dream big. Believe big. God is a big God. Do not limit yourself.
*Ecclesiastes 12:13 (Ampl.) Fear God and keep his commandments – this is the original purpose of man's creation.
Each one of us is unique and special. You are an original. You are nobody's copy. Copies are cheap.
We have different gifts and different talents.
The life of Moses:
Exodus 2:1-10, 1:15-22 God had a purpose with Moses' life. He ensured that Moses would be protected until he fulfilled his task as the deliverer. His mother was determined to save his baby. Pharaoh's daughter even paid her to raise her own baby. She called him Moses, but God saw him as the deliverer.
Different talents
Matthew 25:14-30
We have been given different talents. We should be faithful in the talents and gifts that God gave us.
I am looking forward to hearing the words, "Well done good and faithful servant".
*2Timothy 4:6-7 At the end of our lives we should be fulfilled and should have finished our course like Paul

THE REAL MEANING OF CHRISTMAS
(13-12-2009, 20-12-2009)
Most people are already in festive mood. Both in rural areas and urban areas people have already started preparations for Christmas. Many people celebrate Christmas without understanding its real meaning.
We understand where the Lord took us from. We have experienced his grace (undeserved favour).
Even Mary was favoured to be the mother of Jesus
Luke 1:28 You are highly favoured. The Lord is with you. You are blessed.
Luke 1:46-53 The Lord does not call us because we qualify. He qualifies us because he has called us. We have received the unmerited/undeserved favour. Nobody could have qualified to be a mother of God. How could I deserve to be used by God for his work here in Cape Town? How could some of you deserve to be part of the vision of God for his kingdom?
God is not looking for ability but for avail-ability.
Luke 2:8-14 Isaiah 9:2,6,7
The birth of Jesus brought us good news of great joy to all people.
The government is upon his shoulders (us – his body).
Romans 5:17 Because of favour, we reign with Christ.
Revelations 1:6 He has made us kings and priests. That's why we make a decree and things happen (Job 22:28)
-Unto us the Son is given. Isaiah 9:6
Christmas reminds us how God gave us His Son.
Jesus is God's present to us. Christmas is the time to give. When people give presents during Christmas, they are copying what God did when He gave us Christ. John 3:16-18
-The Saviour is born. Luke 2:11
-Jesus is called Counsellor – he is there to guide us through the Holy Ghost. He is the Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6,7
John 16:33 John 14:1
Christmas means the celebration of Christ.
Christ = the anointed one mas= celebration
Jesus (Greek) = Joshua (Hebrew- Jeshua) = Saviour
Christ (Greek) = Messiah (Hebrew- Mashiyach) =The Anointed One with his anointing
Luke 4:17-19 Acts 10:38
Jesus was anointed with the Holy Ghost and with power to do good, heal and deliver all who were oppressed of the devil.
Jesus is the Anointed One (Christ = Greek, Messiah = Hebrew). He has been anointed to preach the good news, to heal the broken-hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised and to proclaim the salvation and free favours of God. This is good news. We have reason to celebrate.
CHRISTMAS – Celebrating the Anointed One
Is Jesus already born in your heart?
We have noted that there was no room for Jesus in the inn. Does Jesus have any room in your heart/ in your life?
Acts 11:26 Disciples were first called Christians in Antioch. As followers of the Anointed One, we are also anointed.
2Corinthians 1:18-22 The promises of God are yea and amen in Christ. God has anointed us.
LET'S CELEBRATE THE ANOINTING.
