YOUR ROLE IN THE LOCAL CHURCH

(24-01-2010)

Romans 12:4-8 We have different ministries in Christ but we are one body. There are things that I do which you cannot do. Some of you struggle alone without tapping into the anointing that is upon your pastor. I am called as a gift to serve you. Some of you are deceived – you feel that you don't want to bother the pastor. There are some things that you can only get when you go to the man of God. (Old testament examples – the Shunemite woman,

2 Kings 4:8-17, 22- The Shunammite woman blessed the man of God, and she received the blessing from God. She was rich but her money could not buy a child. But the man of God could proclaim and declare that she would have a son. She got a son as the man of God had said. When the son died, she did not call the funeral undertakers, but she called the man of God. "All is well."

We should work in harmony and support each other because we are a family. What role are you playing in your local church.

The community talks about "that church", the crowd talks about this church, but the congregation talks about our church. Members have the sense of ownership. They are role players.

Nehemiah 4:6 People were committed to work because they had a mind to work. People with a mind to work do not wait to be pushed, they do not grumble, but they serve with willing hearts because they do it for the Lord.

1 Corinthians 15:58 Your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

It is easy to analyze, scrutinize, and talk about the problems in the world or in church, but we need people who will do something about them.

New Living Translation Nehemiah 1:1-4 Nehemiah asked about what was the state of Jerusalem and the people there. After he heard the answer, he did something about the problem. There are people who ask just to satisfy their minds but do not help.

Haggai 1: 1-3, 7-9 It is time to build the Lord's house.

Zechariah 4:6-10 (Easy to read version). The house of the Lord will be built and it will be completed. Not by power nor by might, but by the Spirit of God.
