WHO ARE YOU? THE IDENTITY QUESTION

(28-05-2006, 21-09-2008, 28-09-2008)
Matthew 16:13-17 People may have different views on who you are. They are even entitled to their own opinions. You need to know who you are so that you do not become a slave of how people perceive you.
*You are not people's opinion, you are God's opinion.
Jeremiah 1:5 God knows me. He knew me before I was born.
Philippians 2:5-10 It is easy to humble yourself if you know who you are. It is not necessary to say, "I am the one in charge here."
John 13:3-15 Jesus knew who he was and yet he washed his disciples' feet. He set an example for us to follow. Are we also prepared to serve?
Matthew 20:25-28 If you want to be great, be a servant.
1Chronicles 4:9-10 Do not allow your background/ your past to shape your future. Jabez refused to be modelled by his mother's opinion.
*You cannot change your past but you can shape your future.
*Do not be a slave of your past
*Proverbs 23:7 As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.
Numbers 13:27-33 Grasshopper mentality. What you see yourself to be will shape your thinking and your future. You will even think that that's how others view you.

*Grasshopper mentality says, "We are not able".
When others say, "We are not able", there are those who say, "We are able"

I am who God says I am.
I can do what God says I can do.
  1. I am a new creation. 2Corinthians 5:17
  2. I am an ambassador for Christ. 2Corinthians 5:20-21
  3. I can do all things through Christ. Philippians 4:13
  4. I am a royal priest and God's special person 1Peter 2:9-10
